More Information

What is it that we actually do?

Let's start by saying what we don't do. We do not set out to force a standard solution on you.

Before we start working with a new customer we will, if possible, have an initial fact-finding meeting to learn more about your operation and what it is that you want and need from your travel insurance. We will look at your present arrangements and make recommendations for improvements that we consider appropriate. Just as important at the first meeting is the chance for you to meet us and learn more about our operation.

Based on what we have discussed, we will draw up a suggested solution for you. It is our job to arrange your proposed policy for the best possible terms.
Security and peace of mind
Most of our competitors offer policies underwritten by only one or, perhaps, two insurers - so much for choice. At Voyager, we are proud of the fact that as Independent Intermediaries we place business with many of the major travel insurers in the UK - this allows us to offer the widest choice and reflects the confidence that the insurers have in our abilities.

It is not the case that all insurers are the same. Whilst some may be prepared to work for slimmer margins than others, not all companies have the financial strength or underlying philosophy to offer true security and peace of mind. One of our jobs is to negotiate premiums and the policy benefits based on our discussions with you. This is one area where working with a specialist broker pays dividends, as we are able to report back to you with alternative quotes readily identifying the advantages of one over another.

Claims and Emergency Services
Our past experience in running another large travel insurance broker with its own in-house claims and emergency services convinced us that this does not necessarily provide the ideal solution to all requirements. It reduces flexibility and so much time can be taken up with managing large numbers of staff that it distracts from looking after our clients' interests and outweighs the advantages.

The Voyager team took a conscious decision, instead, to build strong relationships with a number of specialist providers that allows us to select those most suitable for a given client. Unusually, we choose, contract and pay for the service provision ourselves and this means that we retain complete control. There are dedicated Voyager teams and phone lines.

From the traveller's point of view, insurance only comes into its own when he or she has to make a claim or, more critically, when a medical emergency arises. That is when the true value of a policy and all the promises can really be tested and proven.

The emergency services we use have the resources to ensure a sympathetic and professional team of co-ordinators and Doctors are genuinely available 24 hours a day.

Activities automatically covered free-of-charge
In today's holiday market there is increasing emphasis on more hazardous activities available to the traveller. Most travel insurances have been slow to respond to the fact that many people will try out a wide range of activities from windsurfing and Scuba to canyoning and microlighting. Whilst most policies will cover the first two, an accident while trying the others will usually not be covered.

At Voyager we have taken care to make sure there will be no nasty surprises. Most of our policies will cover participation in any activity that is done on the spur of the moment, as so many are, provided normal safety precautions are followed. We can also provide cover simply where more hazardous activities are planned in advance as a significant part of the trip, sometimes with special terms.

Existing Health Conditions
One simple way to help keep the premium rates as low as possible for the great majority that are fit and well is to exclude claims related to pre-existing medical conditions. Some of our policies work on this basis.

Others, however, have a simple system for people to declare their conditions and seek cover for them wherever possible.

We use a system that gives an instant decision over the phone. This avoids the need for notes from a Doctor, which are expensive and a nuisance to obtain, or for faxed forms, with the delays that such systems involve. There are only a very small proportion of people who cannot be granted cover for their condition.

If you have a large proportion of customers travelling to France, we are normally able to provide cover for pre-existing medical exclusions without the need to refer to the medical pre-screening line.

Clear Policy Wordings
We are proud of the way we have developed our policy wording and we believe they are clear and fair. We will not compromise the small print in order to reduce net prices to get new business as many of our competitors do.
Training and Support
Once we've agreed to work together, we will offer you the highest levels of support to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Because your account manager is a Director of Voyager they have a vested interest to make sure you sell as much as possible and are properly supported by the Head Office team. We will liaise with your training department to arrange dedicated training sessions at no extra cost before you start selling the Voyager insurance and during the course of our relationship.
Why not give us a try. You've got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
